What you've been told

Four things people get wrong about an EU company in Latvia.

The beliefs we've heard a thousand times, and what the law actually says.

✗ The myth
✓ The reality
A 0% rate has to be a loophole that will get shut down.
It's Latvia's standard corporate tax framework, in force since 2018 and aligned with EU directives. Free movement of capital is a fundamental EU right.
You need to be on site to set up and run a Latvian company.
Incorporation is fully remote, no travel needed. The statutory work runs through our office in Riga while you manage the business from wherever you are.
Since Brexit, a UK company is still enough to sell into the EU.
Many EU buyers, marketplaces and OSS filings now require an EU-established entity. A Latvian SIA gives you a real post-Brexit EU presence inside the single market.
You'll drown in Latvian-language forms and accounting rules.
Our team is in Riga and works in English. We prepare every document and guide you through it; you sign and file as the owner.

The EU VAT and OSS registration let me invoice European clients and sell on Amazon Europe without friction. What I appreciated most was being walked through every step, with zero sales pressure.

"A straightforward EU entity."

I needed a real EU-established company for my European contracts and marketplace sales. Latvia kept me inside the EU and Schengen, set up in English, and I signed and filed everything as the owner.

Your questions

The six objections we hear all the time.

Is a Latvian SIA a standard EU company?

Yes. A SIA is Latvia's standard private limited company, incorporated under national and EU law. Latvia has been an EU member since 2004, joined the Eurozone in 2014 and the OECD in 2016. It gives you an EU-established entity for EU VAT, OSS and single-market trade, like a company formed in any other member state.

How does the 0% rate actually work?

Profits your company keeps or reinvests are taxed at 0%; corporate tax of 20% applies only when you distribute dividends, not before. This is Latvia's statutory framework since 2018, aligned with EU directives. We walk through what it means for your numbers on the call.

What does an EU company in Latvia cost, and how is it taxed?

Formation is completed in about 2 business days. Corporate tax is 0% on retained earnings and 20% on distributed profits, Latvia's statutory framework since 2018. Our firm fees for formation, EU VAT and OSS setup and bookkeeping are laid out in the written plan you receive after the call, with no surprises.

Do I have to spend 183 days a year in Latvia?

That question concerns your personal tax residency, not the company. The SIA benefits from the 0% regime on retained earnings regardless of where its owner lives. If Latvian tax residency is relevant for your situation, there are two routes: 183 days a year in the country, or a declared address held year-round. We cover what fits your case on the call.

Why Latvia for an EU entity?

Latvia combines EU, Schengen, Eurozone, OECD, NATO and EEA membership with EU VAT and OSS access. It offers 0% on retained earnings and 20% on distributed profits, fast 2-day company formation, a cost of living 40 to 50% below London or Paris, and an English-speaking firm on the ground in Riga.

How long until I'm operational?

Company set-up: 2 to 10 business days. Bank account: 1 to 2 weeks. On average, 3 weeks from first call to invoicing your first client from your new structure.

Our promise: we'll tell you the truth in 20 minutes.
